Our Mission

To promote important research in our thriving private-practice / academic anesthesiology department by supporting a robust research team of attending anesthesiologists, CRNAs, fellows, residents, and research interns. To do this, we seek out motivated, enthusiastic, and creative individuals to join our team and help advance the field of anesthesiology.

Meaningful Team-Based Research

Our clinical research aims to improve patient care by studying various topics and subspecialties of anesthesiology. Some of our highlights include investigating the development of novel methods to reduce perioperative opioid use, manage acute pain, alleviate perioperative anxiety, and manage patients in critical care.

Anesthesiology is a collaborative specialty, and we utilize relationships with our surgical colleagues to engage in multi-department research projects, such as our ongoing collaborations with cardiac, colorectal, trauma, and orthopedics surgical subspecialties.

In addition, we partner with several institutions with dedicated research initiatives, like Hartford HealthCare’s Heart & Vascular Institute, Bone & Joint Institute, and many US AAMC-accredited medical schools

Supportive Research Staff

At the core of IAA Hartford Research is the Anesthesia Clinical Research Office (ACRO) and its experienced research coordinators, statisticians, medical writers, and research interns. This dynamic group provides research support to all anesthesiologist investigators, fellows, residents, research interns, and other students.

Our research staff assists with obtaining research grants, developing appropriate study designs, communicating with the Institutional Review Board (IRB), facilitating successful conduct of funded and investigator-initiated clinical trials, and managing study data for analysis.

The strong support from our research staff allows our team to transform inspiring ideas into intelligently designed research.

Join Our Team

The IAA Hartford Department of Anesthesia Research and Development has a strategy to build an interdisciplinary research program with a team of recognized investigators, scientists, and medical writers who work together to challenge what is known and to develop the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology.

We encourage all who are interested to pursue their research ideas with our team. Please contact us for more information, and we look forward to hearing from you.
