Novel Research and Academic Scholarship

Over the last twenty years, the field of anesthesiology has been undergoing significant changes.

As a case in point, advances in point-of-care ultrasound technology, ERAS protocols, and novel anesthetic agents have made patient care safer and pain-free than ever before.

Research has been a major component behind these advances and will continue to be an integral force driving the evolution of the specialty.

IAA Research: Exploring Innovations in Regional, General, and Multimodal Anesthesia to Enhance Patient Perioperative Care, Experience and Outcome, and to Improve Physician Well-Being.

IAA’s Fairfield Division Research Program conducts a wide range of research in epidemiological, clinical, health service, and medical education areas.

Project fields range from the development of opioid-sparing regional techniques in cardiothoracic patients through the validation of process improvement protocols across multiple ambulatory surgery sites.

Our research division strongly prioritizes academic scholarship, and aggressively presents novel research at multiple conferences each year including IARS, ASRA, PGA, Anesthesiology, and NASS.

IAA-Fairfield pays special attention to research training for the next generation of anesthesiologists and medical trainees. Our research staff are always available to assist in funding, study design, analysis, and authorship.

We highly encourage research performed by our medical students, CRNAs, and junior faculty and mentor individuals in study design, statistical analysis, scientific research, and grant application.
