State of the art learning with IAA NAPH

As an SRNA, you’ll benefit from hands-on training with IAA NAPH.

The Center for Education and Simulation Innovation at Hartford Hospital (CESI), offers an ideal setting to begin to establish a culture of patient safety and open communication among the interdisciplinary team.

Its mission is to promote excellence in clinical care, advance patient safety and improve multidisciplinary team performance through high-fidelity medical simulation. Participants can train in a setting similar to his/her actual work environment that creates an atmosphere of realism. Working in this environment extends the simulator’s capabilities and allows for practice on multiple types of acute crises and patient care scenarios.

The first manikin was purchased through the Department of Anesthesia by Dr. Thomas Mort, who had the foresight to see the direct benefits to patient safety and healthcare provider education that human patient simulation could offer. Dr. Mort was the champion in establishing the first Simulation Center in the State of Connecticut in 1999. Since then, the Simulation Center has been renamed and expanded from its original 900 square feet to its new state-of-the-art regional training facility that is 40,000 square feet and covers 2 floors, now called CESI.

CESI expanded to 40,000 square feet and has 5 simulated clinical care environments each with its own control room, task trainers, lecture halls, classrooms, lounge areas, and a full cadaver lab.  CESI is one of only 20 centers that has been nationally recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Laerdal Corporation which made CESI a role model for other simulation centers nationwide.
