Recognition for excellence is not new to IAA. However, having two of the three Connecticut Ambulatory Surgery Centers be recognized as the best by the Leapfrog Group is quite an accomplishment. In fact, across the nation, only twelve ASCs were named the best of 2022, and of these, two are surgery centers where Integrated Anesthesia Associates provides services.
Dr. Thomas Yasuda, IAA President, stated, “We are happy to announce that 2 of the 3 Connecticut ASCs recognized by the Leapfrog Group are IAA affiliated. This prestigious designation is awarded annually to ambulatory centers that meet high expectations for patient safety and quality service. Congratulations to all IAA members at the Hartford and Glastonbury Surgery Centers and especially their medical directors, Drs. Matthew Mitchell and Eric Meisterling. Job well done!”
Each year, the highest-performing surgery centers on the Leapfrog ASC Survey are recognized with the prestigious Leapfrog Top ASC award. This award is based on excellence in upholding quality standards across several areas of patient care including practices for patient safety, error prevention, and infection rates. According to Leah Binder, Leapfrog CEO, “ASCs that participate in the Leapfrog ASC Survey deserve to be recognized for their commitment to safety, quality, and transparency.”
We couldn’t agree more and salute the directors and staff at both IAA Connecticut ASCs. Congratulations to all.
About the Leapfrog Group:
“The annual Leapfrog ASC Survey is open to all ambulatory surgery centers. The survey assesses the safety and quality of ASCs based on national, evidence-based measures that are of specific interest to employers, healthcare purchasers, and consumers. Survey Results are publicly reported and provide ASCs with information to benchmark their progress in improving the care they deliver.
Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects and transparently reports hospital performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information they need to make informed decisions. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Leapfrog’s other main initiative, assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections”.
